Configuration Guide

This comprehensive guide explains all configuration options for the FEL AI Product Advisor plugin, from global plugin settings to individual CMS element configuration.

Configuration Overview

The FEL AI Product Advisor has a two-tier configuration structure:

  1. Global Plugin Settings - Apply to all chatbot instances (optional)
  2. CMS Element Settings - Unique configuration for each chatbot instance (main configuration)
Configuration Strategy

Most customization happens at the CMS element level, allowing you to create different chatbots for different pages with unique personalities, themes, and settings.


Global Plugin Configuration

Access global plugin settings by navigating to SettingsSystemPlugins → Find "FEL AI Product Advisor" → Click "..."Configuration.

OpenAI API Configuration

These settings are inherited from the FEL OAI Assistants Manager base plugin and don't need to be configured separately.

Configure how products and content are provided to the AI.

Advanced Content Filters

Kategorien ausschließen

  • Select categories to exclude from AI recommendations
  • Reduces complexity and improves performance
  • Recommended: Exclude service categories, internal categories

Kategorie-Level definieren

  • Default: 0 (shows all levels)
  • Example: 1 starts at "Catalog #1" instead of "Home"
  • Simplifies breadcrumb navigation

Hersteller ausschließen

  • Exclude specific manufacturers from recommendations
  • Useful for limited-availability brands or discontinued products

  • Empty: All property groups available
  • Filled: Only selected groups (e.g., "Color", "Size")
  • Reduces information overload for the AI

  • Default: 20
  • Recommended: 15-25 for optimal performance
  • Prevents overload with many product variants

The less data the AI needs to process, the faster and more precise the responses. Use filter options strategically!


CMS Element Configuration

The main configuration happens when you add the chatbot as a CMS element to your pages.

Adding the Chatbot to a Page

  1. Navigate to ContentShopping Experiences
  2. Edit an existing page or create a new one
  3. Drag the "KI Produktberater" element into your layout
  4. Click on the element to open configuration options

This field contains the system prompt that defines the AI's behavior and personality.

Default Template Provided: The plugin includes a professional prompt template optimized for product consultation.

Customization: Use the ChatGPT Prompt Generator for optimal results tailored to your product catalog.

Themes can be changed at any time in the CMS element settings. Changes are immediately visible.

The Produktberater für field is crucial for the AI's effectiveness. Follow these guidelines:

Mini models (GPT-4o-mini, GPT-5-mini) offer excellent performance at very affordable costs - perfect for most e-commerce use cases. Premium models provide advanced capabilities like reasoning but require monitoring token usage to manage costs.

Token Optimization

Reduce API costs by optimizing token usage:

  2. ✅ Limit product description length (500 chars)
  3. ✅ Filter unnecessary categories and properties
  4. ✅ Restrict search results (8 products max)
  5. ✅ Limit displayed products (4 in chat)
